Sharing the bed
Posted: January 17, 2014 Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: alaskan malamute, bed, dog, sharing 76 CommentsAs I’ve mentioned before, I sleep on the armchair in the conservatory which is as far away as you can get from daddy’s snoring lol. If I do fancy sleeping upstairs there’s a cushion-type bed in their room for me. When they’re out ofc it’s a different matter: the bed is all mine! I’ve made the mistake of leaving some of my toys on there before so they know I often sleep there, but they don’t seem to mind.
When daddy is working lates I do my best to keep mummy company by heading up to bed with her and this is where we have issues. You see I prefer to sleep on mummy’s side of the bed. Daddy thinks this is because I respect his space, mummy thinks it’s because his side of the bed smells lol. But I just find it more comfortable and it’s closer to the window. So when mummy heads to bed, it’s a race to get there first.
I win!
If she beats me, then I tend to stretch out across the bed or lay in the most inconvenient place possible hehehehe. The other night she accused me of trying to push her out of the bed, which was completely true a huge exaggeration!
I saw this on fb and thought it looked like a perfect solution: white side mine, black side mummy’s:-)

Del tries his hardest to take over the whole bed, and the majority of the time it works. I often wake up with him lying all over my legs, with no duvet on, squished into a tiny ball. But he looks so comfy so I leave him there 🙂 The things we do for you dogs!

Love that duvet ensemble! The dogs don’t join us in bed but it’s a fight to find space among the cats 😀
There’s an even better duvet cover – it has his side {same as this one}, her side {same size as his side but on the other side of the bed} and Where the Dog Sleeps {in the middle taking up most of the bed}! 🙂

Space management when it comes to bed time is always an issue Misaki. I have lots of techniques but my best one is the butt push making sure I get more space to stretch out. Love the duvet cover. Have a fabulous Friday.

Mom and I fit perfectly on her (my) bed. I am happy on there, as long as I am touching her, leaning against her, or pressing on her somehow. After she makes the bed in the morning, I am banned. Unless she is not looking…..

Well Misaki I USED to share my parents bed with them but these days I prefer being downstairs in the living room on MY sofa for nighttimes. I have BIG windows to keep an eye on the night critters and NO snoring sounds……back in the day when I shared beds with them though I used to sleep down at Mom’s feet – closest to the door so I could guard her properly!!

You are such a good guard cat. That’s why I like the armchair as I can watch everything from there. But when mum’s home alone it’s good to keep an eye on her 🙂
Sometimes. She says I am very polite. I take up a small me sized bit at the foot of the bed. Floyd… Well… He likes to squash himself right between the peeps and stretch his paws way out… She doesn’t appreciate it much.

Doggy doesn’t dare to jump on my bed. He doesn’t like it, he likes his nasty blanket and loves to crawl under the bed.
As for sharing the bed with other people, well, I recently kicked out of the room the other person, he snores too much and I was not born to tolerate that. My love isn’t that big lol
mummy often feels like kicking daddy out of bed too!
hahaha, my mom thinks the same like yours about dad’s side of the bed (but don’t tell him LOL) I always sleep between mom&dad, that’s important I’m something like a spacer on 4 legs :o)

Bailie sleeps in bed with Mom, I like to be in my own bed on the floor next to Mom and Katie prefers to sleep downstairs on her bed.

I have my own bed in my bedroom but there are times when mommy will take me to the big bed. I absolutely love it! See the big bed is a king size Select Comfort bed where you can get your individual side to your liking. When daddy is looking, I steal his blankets and pull them over to moms side. I like mom’s side. It fits me just right. XOXO – Bacon

Their bed is king sized too, but sounds like you have a super duper one! I’d sleep on there more often if I were you!
I do every chance I get – snorts. Its kind of like the beds in the Three Little Bears. Dad’s side is too hard – his number is 100! Oh my aching back. The middle is about a 50. Mom’s side is just right – at a 65 🙂 XOXO – Bacon
BOL, those sheets are a grreat idea! I do share my bed, with Momma AND my kitty brother! But I don’t mind letting Momma get in furst, because she makes a grreat pillow for me!

Oh Misaki, I go to sleep when Daddy-dog goes to sleep, which is earlier than Ma and you know where I sleep…on Ma’s side of the bed! BOL However, I am nice and move to the foot of the bed, between them, once Ma comes in. Ma says it is because I want to keep her side warm and cozy but Daddy-dog says the same as your daddy about respecting space! BOL

At least you sleep with your head on the pillow and not the other way around. Mommy will never, ever understand why dogs insist on sleeping with their bums in their humans’ faces! And, just for the record, I sleep on a dog bed and I do not let me humans share. They kick too much!

And my huskies are both different, Mika refuses to sleep in our bedroom, she prefers her spot on the couch. Lexus does sleep on our bed always on my side ….always in an inconvenient spot!!! Lol I take it for as long as I can until I finally just put my legs on top of her, then she eventually moves haha!

Mum told me her Husky/Shepherd (who may have bin a Mallie not a Husky) used to race her to bed too….Bogart Sam wuud get in ‘tween Mum n her hubby in da duuble bed…Mum wuud roll over to kiss da hubby Nitenite n she wuud end up kissin da poochie insteed who wuud stick hiz big nose rite tween dem…clever poochie!!!

We love that picture from facebook. Our pawrents sleep in “our” bed too and once we get in we refuse to move. We love it when they turn on their electric blankie. We think beds are big so that the cats and dogs have plenty of room to stretch out. Love, Cali, Andy, Tater and Shelly (C.A.T.S)

I like to hop into bed before momma does, and I take her pillow and take up as much space in the bed as I possibly can! Then when she asks me to move, I don’t move, and when she tries to move me, I let out a terrible moan!
