Trespasser
Posted: September 15, 2012 Filed under: cat | Tags: cats, chase, fence, garden 37 CommentsThis morning a cat walked along the back fence of my garden. Apologies in advance to my kitty friends, but that cat was trespassing! And I couldn’t have that.
Instead of moving on quickly, this cat decided to taunt me by giving me an evil glare, poking its tongue out* and nonchalantly tip-toeing across the fence and onto our shed. The gall!
Mummy was too slow with the camera, so here’s a pic of me afterwards watching in case it came back
I was outraged at its behaviour! So I took a mighty leap intending to follow it and force it to apologise. But the shed is quite high and I misjudged the jump. I fell straight into mummy’s planter. Ouch!
Sorry mummy, looks like your flowers got a bit squished
And worst of all the cat got away!
You better not come back into my garden Mr Cat. I’ll be watching for you!!

It should not have entered your property without permission, you are quite right.
Here on the Mornington Peninsula of Victoria, Australia cats must be kept in their own garden – the owners can be fined if they go into other people’s garden. This must be a difficult thing for the owners to control because although I have never met a cat I gather they are quite independent and enjoy their freedom.
Pity about the planter – whoops!
Zena, I had no idea there were such strict rules in Oz. The cats round here are completely lawless!
Misaki we are all for a bit of a cat attack but peeps always makes sure they get away. We have a few trespassers over here and they too taunt me and worse poop everywhere and annoy the birds. I have to do my rounds of the garden everyday to check all is in order. Keep your eyes peeled is what I say. Have a lovely Saturday.

Hi Misaki! I actually can identify with your trespassing problem. I never leave my yard – I was taught not to and have stayed in my own yard for 13 years BUT other people let their cats roam and they often come into MY yard and can be quite pestful! They poop in MY gardens, lie on MY sidewalk and driveway, and even hunt birds and chipmunks in MY yard. Being quite timid and peace-loving (and mostly inside the house!) I just have to watch them disrespect me! We also have dogs who roam and even though humans are supposed to keep their pets under control or on a leash, they don’t. Sigh. In my younger days I might have tried to chase them off and out of my yard but these days I just watch…..and hope they move on SOON!

I’ve never owned a cat but I do think they are nice and I enjoy my daughter’s mischievious cat Chester. Chester is an indoor cat and I personally think all urban cats should be kept inside. It seems more courteous to the neighbors and protects the songbirds. I recently heard an estimate that up to 40% of all songbird mortality is due to domesticated cats. So Misaki you were helping save the birds and keeping that cat from peeing in your yard! Good for you!
That’s so sad about the birdies! I will be extra vigilant in future to help save them – but pigeons are fair game imo BOL

Those squirrels are such teases! They always run up the trees in the park, they don’t play fair!
I guess that goes to show you that CATS ARE SMARTER THAN DOGS!!! MOL! That kitty had the last laugh!! Dogs can’t jump fences silly! But CATS CAN! BTW this is Dakota’s brother Cody…i happen to be a CAT!

We so understand, Misaki. We love all our blogging kitty pals very much, but there is one black tailless one who taunts us from a distance and makes the Momster very upset because he digs lots of holes in the front garden:(

If it is not your cat it is a fair game cat in my book – only family pets are allowed on or in our stuff indoors and out – those are my rules and I am sticking with them!
Emma, I think I’m adopting your rules from now on!
Oh, those darn cats! They can be VERY sneaky ya know! I had one come around last year, and had to teach him a lesson! (Ma here: she just carried on and on until the kitty got sick of listening to her, and stopped comin’ around. No kitties were harmed in the makin’ of our kitty-free yard.)
I do admire your athletic skills, Misaki, though I am sorry about your Moms planter box.
I’m sure she understands that you were just makin’ the yardie safe for her!

Good for you Rubes, those ‘rogue’ cats need to be taught their place!
There is a cat near us that used to like coming and watching us play in our garden. It was so scary whee would squeak for Mummy to come and save us. Now she sits out all the time as a sorta hooman bodyguard. She is like a fierce Mummy Tiger protecting us so I would want to be in that cats furry paws if it ever bothers us again! 😉
