Bashful and I have had a fab time together but he’s itching to get home to tell Bacon all about his trip to the UK. I’ll miss you Bashful. And sorry I tried to eat you, but you kinda look like my kibble BOL
Hope you had a great time too. Have a safe journey back my friend.
In the meantime, I randomised the list of people wanting in for the calendar and the winners are Judy and CATS and Nylablue!
I’ll get your calendars sent off asap! Thank you all xxx
Also you may have seen on facebook that Nylablue is poorly again. Please send her some hugs and healing vibes.
Yesterday mummy took Bashful to work. I don’t think this fair as I NEVER get to go to work with her:-(
They left early so they could do some pre-work window shopping on Oxford street and Regents Street. Bashful was quite excited about seeing Selfridges, apparently he thought Mr Selfridge was a reality TV show and was hoping to photobomb some scenes lol! They then walked down to Marble Arch and wandered around Kensington Gardens for a bit. Bashful tried to hire out a Boris Bike but had trouble with the pedals. So instead he lingered outside the gates to the palace hoping to see the young prince, but I guess they were out visiting his great granny today.
Back at mummy’s office, Bashful played a joke on mummy by pretending to be her mouse. Then at lunchtime she took him to Portobello Road, which some of you might recognise if you’ve ever seen Bedknobs and Broomsticks. He tried to get a present for Bacon from one of the stalls, but got a bit overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle.
We’re supposed to have terrible weather again this weekend, but mummy is hoping she can take Bashful to visit some of the big tourist attractions like St Paul’s, The Eye and the Tower of London. Please keep your paws crossed.
Bashful and I have been thinking about our New Year’s resolutions and we’ve come up with the following:
- Spend more time with friends
- Improve my doggy paddle
- Get mummy and daddy fit
- Add more stamps to my passport
- Take part in more extreme sports – bungee jumping anyone??
- Start a rock band:-)
Have you made any resolutions this year?
Hope you all enjoy yourselves tonight. Bashful and I might raid the drinks cupboard later hehehe:-)
Today mummy and Bashful set out to visit Greenwich. Only the weather was awful. Typically now they are home it’s brightened up, but when they left it was miserable.
Anyway, mummy hooked Bashful up with an Oyster card and they jumped on the DLR to Greenwich. As soon as they got out of the station, mummy was soaked to the bone, which meant she wasn’t keen to hang around. On a nice day Greenwich is a lovely place to explore so it was a bit of a shame. Had daddy been there they would have likely spent their time in the Union pub, where according to him they make a mean eggs benedict. But instead, mummy and Bashful checked out the Cutty Sark, took a soggy stroll round Greenwich Park and then walked up the very steep hill to the Observatory. The view from the top is pretty amazing but as it was so grey you can’t see much from the photos. You can just make out The O2 (formerly the Millennium Dome) if you look closely.
I do feel bad for Bashful, but I guess it wouldn’t be a proper trip to the UK without some good old-fashioned terrible British weather lol.
Mummy is back to work on Thursday and is planning to take Bashful into London to play tourist before he heads home next week. Is there anywhere in particular you would like Bashful to visit? We’ll try to fit your suggestions into his trips.
When I woke up this morning I found Bashful curled up with the piggy toy that Bacon sent me:
It seemed that Bashful was feeling a bit homesick. To try to cheer him up, I sent him down with mummy down to Pet’s Corner to introduce him to some of the pigs there. Mummy said that as soon as they saw Bashful they all rushed over to say hi.
The little fellow seems so much happier now. Phew!
Tomorrow he and mummy are planning to have an adventure, I wonder where they’ll go? Pop back tomorrow to find out!
I’ve just realised I completely forgot to tell you about Bashful’s Christmas present from Santa Paws. He got a pair of skate boards! Because they were a bit little, we fixed them together so he could try them out.
The next step was to try out some ‘sweet jumps’ as Napoleon Dynamite would say. We made a small ramp to see how he got on:
And then he progressed to a longer one:
Check him out in action. But be warned, blink and you’ll miss it!
The weather was horrible yesterday with heavy rain and strong winds, so mummy has had to abandon her trip into the big smoke. We’re only half an hour by train, but as with all British transport, as soon as we have ‘adverse weather conditions’ everything grinds to a halt. And typically our trainline has been plagued with fallen trees on the line which has disrupted the service. But she’s promised to take Bashful in the new year. Instead we took him for a walk in the park. We made him a small rain hat so he didn’t get too wet, but luckily it only drizzled a little and it’s not that windy anymore.
We don’t have many rocks in the park, but I showed him our Newfoundland one:
And also introduced him to the stone turtle:
When we got back we helped mummy ice the christmas cake. She made Bashful a marzipan friend so he wouldn’t get lonely.
But when Bashful wasn’t looking she took a bite out of him – what a meanie!
Guess I’m going to have to think of some way to cheer him up…Maybe he’d like another wash?
Anyway, we’ll be taking a break for a couple of days while we’re at nanny and grampy’s, so have a lovely Christmas from me and Bashful xxx
As you know Bashful is staying with me until the New year so I spent today helping to make him comfortable. First of all I helped him to unpack his box
And then I treated him, as I would any guest, to a nice wash:
When he was nice and refreshed, he and I helped mummy wrap up some of the Christmas presents. Only mummy got a bit carried away:
Luckily I realised in time and helped him to break free. Phew!
A little later in the day he went missing. I was worried! I looked everywhere for him until eventually I spotted a familiar face in the tree:
Yep Bashful had found a santa hat and got quite into the Christmas spirit (I did wonder if he’d got into the spirits too lol).
Mummy was hoping to take him into London but the weather is supposed to be pretty dire over the next few days with strong gales heading our way. If the trains are affected their trip may have to wait till after Christmas, which is a shame.
Anyway, hope you are all enjoying the run-up to Christmas. London trip or not, I’ll have more Bashful news for you tomorrow:-)
I’m so excited! We have a visitor for Christmas all the way from Georgia, USA. Yep it’s Bashful!
Bashful has a slight hiccup on his flight. He wanted some fresh air and found himself on the wing of the plane!
Things were a bit rocky (forgive the pun) for a bit there, but he was soon upgraded to business class And enjoyed the rest of the flight in comfort.
He even managed to hitch a lift through arrivals with an obliging celeb.
I gather there was some talk of a future duet too. Maybe they could cover ‘like a rolling stone’ 🙂
Once we finally met up, we hopped on the train back to mine.
Bashful was pretty tired so he headed straight to bed when we got home.
I’m so happy he’s here! I’m sure we’re going to have a fab time together. Pop back tomorrow for more of Bashful’s adventures:-)
