Early fireworks:-(

Now it’s October it seems to be fireworks season. Over the weekend there were loads going off in our neighbourhood. Mummy and daddy noticed that our local shops are selling them at ‘special rates’ and I guess instead of waiting till the Hindu festival of Diwali or Guy Fawkes Night, they’ve become impatient to let them off.

Mummy said she used to enjoy fireworks until I came along and now she dreads them. Although I don’t get too scared usually, I did get a little agitated mostly because hearing them go off stopped us from taking our evening walk, so we’ll have to make sure we go out earlier in the future, especially at the weekends.

On the plus side, I read this in our local paper:

harsh weather

At least that’s something to look forward to! Roll on snow, it’s way better than silly noisy fireworks.

Have you heard any fireworks in your area yet?

  1. We love fireworks but only at big, properly arranged venues. Hate people letting them off in their gardens 😦 The papers print that story every year – sells papers 😀

  2. They made new rules for the fireworks this year..not that some people follow them…but it was getting out of hand here too. Grandpa almost had a fight last year, because our neighbour and his sons were doing the fireworks a few days earlier than it is allowed and I was very scared. Hiding in the closet. He has to give the good example to his kids, doesn’t he? The only event we have is in Scheveningen for the end of Summer and on the 31 December it is allowed from 6 pm till 2 am. We haven’t heared it yet, but Granny will be very alert! Pawkisses for a Silent Day 🙂

I couldn’t care less about fireworks but Vaks is terrified. Here in Denmark fireworks are only allowed on New Years Evening, and we can’t buy it until three days before New Year. Snow… I love snow but mom and dad not so much 😀

  4. Oh Boy!!! SNOWWWWWW!!!!!! I don’t like fireworks either Misaki but just keep thinking that soon all that noise will be gone and maybe you’ll get some snow. YAY!

    Hugs, Sammy

  5. We have had early fireworks too and peeps gets annoyed. I go and hide behind the sofa. Yikes we did not know a cold Winter was predicted. So hope they got it wrong. Have a marvellous Monday.
    Best wishes Molly

  6. I hate that fireworks too, why they have no fireworks with silencers?
I bet you will be the only one who is happy about a cold winter… except my mom, so she can wear the snow boots what sleep in the box since 3 years lol

  7. Whee heard fireworks in our area last night. Luckily none of us are too upset by them but Mummy remembers how Nutty used to hurt himself in his panic over them and thunderstorms. It’s quite strange for her not having him to look after during the fireworks anymore.

  8. We have not had them yet, but I am getting nervous as my Oscar is terrible with them. I have to stay in and have tv on and he settles then. Shame as I love watching them out in the cold with a hot dog covered in fried onions and a cuppa tea 🙂

  9. It’s been pretty quiet around here, M. But that snow does look pretty! I’m looking forward to that…. Unless it touches my belly. Then I will need help.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

In my opinion, when people set off fireworks all the time for no reason, it takes away their “specialness” for holidays. We love snow here, but we’re not fans of “brutal” winters where there are barely any breaks between blizzards and every weather report contains the word “Arctic”. 😉 Hopefully Mother Nature will soften her attitude and give you a nice winter with just enough snowfalls for fun. 😀

  11. Here in the U.S., we wouldn’t normally have fireworks in October. Except there is a big university up the hill from me and they set them off for Homecoming weekend this past Saturday.

Luckily Honey doesn’t even notice them.

You, Misaki, will probably have a great winter. But I worry about your humans. I bet their coats aren’t nearly as warm as yours.

  12. PigLove says:

Shivers just thinking about that snow. Snow is cold! I learned that last year when we actually got some of that white stuff that fell from the sky – yucky – snorts. XOXO – Bacon

  13. We’ve never seen snow, it looks so white and clean. Our bipeds would approve of us coming over to join you. And boy we sure agree re fireworks. wag wag wag

  14. Frankie and Ernie says:

OMD we Know that YOU love the cold and all… butt we PRAY that Our winter is NOT like it was last year… We did have 4 inches of snow on November 12th. last year… and that was just the BITTER BEGINNINGS of it.
Maybe th Fireworks will scare it back NORTH.

  15. Kyla says:

    Global warming is back.

  16. Will and Eko says:

  22. I don’t like them. Noisy and dangerous and sound like explosions. Keep warm and safe dear Pup. You have a great smile. 😀 ❤

  23. pawedblog says:

Urgh. Yes the fireworks start really early here too Misaki, they set them off in big metal bins behind the nearby supermarkets and pubs… the pups are pretty good with fireworks usually but that does set them off!
I am hoping for some of that snow stuff though 😉
    Hugs, Carrie & Pups x

  24. The OP Pack says:

We have had some fireworks going off around here too – that’s because our Kansas City Royals baseball team is in the lead to get to the World Series – just two more wins and we will be the American League champs. But we do wish there was a better way for peeps to celebrate than those bang bangs.

Snow???? Snow ???? Soon???? Oh, we need to move your way:)

Woos – Phantom, Ciara, and Lightning
