I’ve got an ouchie

Mummy and daddy didn’t realise how bad it was so had ignored it at first, but during a bellyrub they got a clearer look. Mummy was pretty concerned, so she phoned the vets to ask them for advice. Although I hadn’t cried when it happened and wasn’t limping, I’d been a bit listless and was licking it alot so the vets suggested I wear a sock on my paw.
Well that knocked me over the edge. It was so uncomfortable, I couldn’t help but limp and looked pretty pathetic and sorry for myself.
So daddy took me to the vets yesterday morning to get it checked out. They said it was fine, that I’d licked it clean, but not over-licked it enough to make it sore. Which meant no cone of shame – hooray! We were mostly worried cos we’re planning a trip to the beach this weekend, but the vet said the salt water would be good for it. So although they need to keep an eye on it, it’s fine.
I’ve been trying to look sad to get more treats, but it doesn’t seem to be working that well.

Rupie often has an ouchie and when we put a bandage on he looks very pathetic and then rips it off! He causes his own ouchie though – he licks and licks – sometimes he has to have tablets to get rid of the itchies. Hope you ouchie gets better soon!

Milk it for all you’ve got Misaki – they’re bound to feel sorry in the end! We use a sock whenever one of our hounds has an ouchie – works very well.
I’ve been doing my best, but as I was so brave to begin with they’re not falling for it as much as I would like lol
So sowwy yous got a ouchie Misaki but meez vewy glad yous okay.

The sock pictures DO look pretty sad, M. Almost as pathetic as the cone of shame would’ve looked…. I hope the salt water does the trick. Zoomies are no fun with an ouchie-paw.

Poor brave chap. I hope the water helps. Dear Jack tore a claw once on a sweater and had to go to the vet because it was bleeding. the vet fixed him up and also gave him painkillers.

Oh Misaki…we were so so worried when saw the picture and started reading your bloggie…but we so relieved to read that you are doing fine and that you licked your ouchie clean! Now make sure that you use your pitiful face to snag a few extra treats…bark bark bark!
I tried to milk it as much as I could, but I don’t think I got anywhere enough treats!
Poor Misaki! I’ve never had a ouchie on my paw but I must say, that sock looks rather uncomfortable……the salt water at the beach will be GOOD for that sore spot and you’ll have so much fun in the water….however I see a bath in your future should you take a dip in that ocean!

The sock was horrible Sammy, was so pleased when they got rid of it. But then they started putting this tea tree stuff on it which tastes yucky

Oh Misaki – I’m so sorry you hurt yourself but I’m glad it’s not that bad. I’ll tell you a secret that I’ve learned… come closer to the screen. Sshh – make sure your humans are away from the computer. Milk.it.for.all.its.worth! Really. Every time they are in the room, limp and whine. I’m telling you – it does wonders with treats 🙂 winks. Awe! So sorry you have a sore paw!
Last summer, we had Mika on a very long lead down at the water and she was jumping and running and playing etc…when we were on our way home, I noticed she was bleeding on the upper part of her paw. Upon further inspection, I discovered she had tore the outer shell of her dew claw. Luckily the damage was minimal, it barely touched the inside where the quick was, just a little nick, enough to make it bleed a wee bit. She was not a happy husky for a few days.

Oh Misaki, you poor dear. I sure hope your pathetic looks are getting you additional treats. I have had several ouchies on my paw in my lifetime…I always limp (even though I never whimper or cry)…the limp always gets me the most attention!

Bummer – paw injuries are the worst. Eko broke his toe once and I had to keep him from running around on his injured foot. Much easier said than done. Hope you’re back on your paws soon.

I had some ouchies on my paws too and as I was a small pup, we used a “durex” over the bandage when it was wet outside. It’s strong enough for one walk and it protected my injured paw. Now my paws are to big for a “durex”-boot and my dad had an embarrassing adventure at the drug store as he asked for a durex-thingy with a diameter of 18 cm….as he said he want it for a dog, the goose was cooked and by now the drugstore-crew always laughs when they see my dad.

awwww misaki~~ i hope it heals real soon. piri had something lodged in his paw a few years ago and was limping and couldn’t walk on it. x-rays didn’t pick up anything and it puzzled all of us for a while and then the vet decided to just do surgery on it. piri had grass awns stuck inside his paw! they got them out and he was bandaged up and had to wear a protective sock too for a few weeks!

Ouch, that does sound sore. Basil once had a really bad ouchie where he ripped off his WHOLE claw and damaged the toe. Mummy still doesn’t know how he managed it, but in the past few weeks it has begun to grow back! Whee hope your paw feels better soon

poor Misaki! Miss D has had many ouchies and even more embarrassing moments wearing a sock or cone of shame. donut of shame, that’s even worse! I can see my paw, unlike the cone, but can’t get near it. torture! the worst though is when Mommy loses trust and makes me wear a diaper! hope your paw feels better in time for the beach trip!

Hooray for no cone of shame! My first dog, Kaeto, had sliced both of his front pads and had to wear socks for a few weeks. He looked pretty silly on walks 😉

Grayshus, Miss Misaki, I’m so glad your paw wasn’t hurt too badly and got better quickly! I have never hurt my paws but I have had a few close calls, Mom has found some sharp things in the yard but she found them before my paws did, thank goodness!
